Energy Group Job Class Training and Certifications
Overview of Training Requirements
The Energy Group has a responsibility to ensure that all employees are trained in the hazards, safe work practices, safety procedures and other safety requirements that pertain to their respective job classification. This includes applicable emergency procedures related to their job assignment and necessary for their safety.
Employees shall receive training in identification and mitigation of all hazards related to their job classification including injury, fire, explosive and toxic release.
Various methods are used to train employees. Although skills and knowledge are largely gained through on the job training and experience, there is additional training available to assist the training process. Instructors, Trainers, Supervisors and Foremen administer ongoing training as determined by the Director of Environmental Health and Safety to assist employees in the advancement of their job classification.
The Energy Group Certification Process is designed to be used as a guide to assist in training employees, in the knowledge and skills involved in the different operations of the company. Company certification enhances legal requirements and in no way replaces any required license or state certification. Retraining at the discretion of management may be required, following an: incident investigation, disciplinary action or evaluation showing misuse, insufficient skill or understanding.
OSHA requires that a minimum of two employees on every crew be certified in First Aid and CPR. Therefore, the company requires that all employees receive First Aid and CPR training. The company provides this training for all employees. If an employee does not attend company provided training, documentation of first aid and CPR training is the responsibility of the employee and documentation must be provided to the company.
Employees will be trained whenever presented with unfamiliar or non-routine tasks. This training will include the hazards, procedures and work practices of these tasks.
Training Documentation
All training shall be documented by written tests, verification of skills records, completion certificates and training class attendance roster sheets. Training records shall be maintained for a minimum of three years after employment ends. Training updates may replace older training records for active employees.
